This girl reading is a gorgeous chalkware bookend. I estimate this piece to be from the late 1940's-1950's based on dates on other pieces in the collection found at an estate auction in Western Pennsylvania. The back end is flat for use as a bookend, but the girl reading has lovely detail. In good shape for a period piece, she even has the original glitter on her hair bow and the edge of the book in her hands. Her blue shirt makes a lovely contrast with the red and yellow base. Paint is mostly intact, there is some wear to her hair, the flower on the base, and there is some chipping around the bottom edge of the base. Approximately 6.5" tall and 4" wide.
