Antique Copy of Agriculture of Pennsylvania, 1889 State Board of Agriculture Report
Antique copy of Agriculture of Pennsylvania, containing reports of the State Board of Agriculture, the State Agricultural Society, the State Dairymen's Association, the State Horticultural Association, and the State College for 1889. Published in Harrisburg, PA by Edwin Meyers, State Printer, 1889. It is considered an official state document and it is noted that 32,510 copies were printed. This copy is stamped "Compliments of Eh(??) Luhr, House of Representatives. The various reports contain membership lists, meeting minutes, Association bylaws and other procedural information. Articles cover things like livestock disease, fence laws, crops such as sorghum and sugarcane. There are a number of plate illustrations, some of them folding out for larger images and diagrams. Many charts and tables can be found throughout as well.
In good condition for age but please review photos as this is a 135 year old book. Some damage as shown to spine above the title, likely mouse damage from years of storage in an old outbuilding where I found it. Minor wear to edges and corners of cover. Binding is in excellent condition. Pages have minimal yellowing. Extremely readable condition and a fascinating look back at agriculture in Pennsylvania from the late 19th century!
