Beautiful 3rd series Erie skillet made by Griswold. This skillet was made in Erie, PA in the 1890's. It measures 10" across, 2" deep, and 14.75" long including handle. It has a heat ring and is marked "ERIE", 701 C, 7. While these skillets are often advertised as "pre-Griswold", that is not correct. Erie skillets were made by the Griswold Manufacturing Company, it was simply before the cross shaped logo was put on items. Erie pans are lightweight for cast iron and have a wonderfully smooth cooking surface like all Griswold pans are known for.

Antique estate find, please see photos for more information on condition. A very nice skillet, no cracks or chips. The underside is in beautiful condition with no sulphur pitting. Cooking surface has a few small areas of flea bites as shown. These will season in over time with use. Slight, one card wobble if pressed between 5 and 11 o'clock on a granite countertop. Casting flaws on handle and between catalog number and 7 on the underside as shown. These are factory imperfections.

Professionally restored via electrolysis and seasoned with multiple coats of grapeseed oil. In excellent condition for being around 130 years old! Ready for use or display.
