Griswold cast aluminum kettle, marked A56 in the distinctive Griswold font but otherwise unmarked. An unusual piece that has been difficult to find out about. There was a marked version of the A56 with the block logo in the 1930's, it is very likely this dates to the same time period. 9.75" across the bottom, about 8" high.
Vintage find, please see photos. Likely used as a humidifier, sitting on a wood stove or radiator while full of water. It has rust and scale inside and would not be suitable for food or drink. Still very serviceable as a humidifier. Has been gently cleaned with dish soap, some vintage patina remains as shown.
