1914 edition of A Literary & Historical Atlas of Europe by J. G. Bartholomew LLD, part of the Everyman's Library, edited by Ernest Rhys. Originally published in 1910, this is a 1914 reprint, and the original owner's inscription on the inside cover dates the book to December 18, 1914. This book contains dozens of European maps, some in color and some black and white. The color maps cover historic borders and empires in Europe and beyond, maps of individual European countries, population density maps and more. The black and white maps depict locations from famous works of literature like the Canterbury Tales or Dumas' or Dickens' novels, locations of battles from ancient Greece and Shakespeare, and a few city maps showing literary locations. Also includes a "Brief Survey of the English Coinage from the Earliest Times to the Present Day" with black and white illustrations of various English coins. The Gazetteer section lists towns and places of literary or historical interest as well. 245 pages including index.
Vintage estate find, please see photos for more information on condition. Overall, very good for age. Some discoloration and wear to cover, especially at corners and spine edges as expected. Pages are in beautiful condition with no issues noted, binding is secure. A really nice collection of historical maps and information.
