Three volume set of the New York Monuments Commission Final Repoyon the Battlefield of Gettysburg, printed in Albany NY by J.B. Lyon Company in 1900. This set includes all 5 battlefield maps in pockets in the front of each volume. Hardcover, each book contains black and white photo plates of various battlefield monuments. Over 2700 pages between the three volumes. These books center the regiments from the State of New York. Contains historical sketches of the battle and the officers and regiments that participated, texts of speeches delivered at monument dedication, poetry and more. A very interesting set for anyone interested in a deeper understanding of the battle, written less than 40 years after the events took place.
Estate find, please review all photos for more information on condition. These books have significant discoloration to all three covers, although volume I is in the best shape. All three of the map pockets have a center tear but still hold the original, freestanding maps. The pockets have discolored the opposite page. The binding is cracked at the title page on Volume I but pages are still secure, other volumes have intact binding. Pages are not yellow or brittle but may have occasional stains or small tears. Still in very readable condition for study. All 5 maps are in very good condition. Remarkable insight into Civil War history published 125 years ago!
